Paper vs in-app sections

The App As Stimulus? choice determines what the pupil reads. The assessment definition also sets whether a live passage appears word by word or sentence by sentence. You do not need to choose a display style during the test.

In a word-by-word section, one letter or word appears in large print. Tap Correct, Incorrect or No Response to score it and advance.

In a sentence-by-sentence section, the whole sentence appears together. Tap a word once for incorrect, again for no response, or again to clear the mark. Use Next sentence to move through the passage.

The pupil reads the printed material. Word-by-word sections use a compact scrolling list with response controls for each item. A section configured for sentence-by-sentence assessment uses the sentence screen, so the assessor sees and marks each complete sentence while the pupil reads from paper.

Enter a paper based assessment

Enter the existing responses in the compact list. No live timer runs. For a section that requires a duration, use the time recorded on paper when confirming completion.

Timing and scoring

Live countdowns stop silently at their configured limit. Sentence assessments ask you to identify the last attempted word before saving. Unmarked words through that point count as correct; later words are not attempted.

Prepared passage sections show correct words per minute when a valid duration is available, including paper entries. Isolated sounds or word lists do not automatically receive a fluency score.
