The settings menu

Setup does not live in the sidebar. It lives behind the settings icon (the gear) in the header bar, and what it contains changes with where you are: the organisation, a country, or a project.

The old Configuration menu

In the previous dashboard this was a Configuration button with its links arranged in columns. It is now a single gear in the header bar, and instead of one big menu there are three smaller ones, each holding only what applies to the level you are on.

Who sees the gear

• At organisation level it appears for administrators only.
• At country and project level it appears for senior managers and administrators.

If your role is not high enough the gear does not appear. Typing a setup page’s address directly does not help: the page either refuses to load or, where it opens (another manager opening the org pages), every change is refused with “This action requires an administrator”.

If an entry is missing, check your scope

The quickest way to find a setup page is to move to the level it belongs to first, using the scope selector in the header bar. Terms are not in the organisation menu because terms belong to a country, and a project’s school visit forms are not in the country menu because those deployments belong to the project (the country menu holds the form specifications they are based on).
